Designing for Designers
What can we say, Design Source is one of our favorites. Not only because they are an incredible client but because they have been an invaluable resource to our design community for as long as any of us can remember. Moving from a very small showroom nestled into one of downtown Salt Lakes historic streets, to one of downtown Salt Lakes historic buildings was a natural progression for a company changing ownership. Creating a larger showroom space that spoke to the future of the company was the perfect move. So of course when they asked us to be a part of it, we said yes!
Design Source is committed to bringing beautifully designed and progressive furniture to the design market in Salt Lake City. So of course they needed an equally beautiful space to show it off in. The bones of their new, very old building were both inspiring and challenging. Learning to embrace the character of this old building and transform it into an urban background for new product is a big part of what made this project successful.
Designing a showroom is like designing a miniature version of a large office. The intent being that you are able to walk clients through the space and show them different work types or zones and how the products function within those spaces. Attention to detail in space planning, flow patterns and product consideration were all weaved together in their design.
In the competitive world of furniture procurement, as a showroom, it is essential to stay current and have a built environment and product that inspires both designers and clients. With its urban edge, downtown historic building and thoughtfully selected furniture selections Design Source does just that, inspires!
